Madi Piller

Madi Piller ist eine Filmemacherin, Animatorin, Programmiererin und unabhängige Kuratorin umd lebt und arbeitet in Toronto, Kanada. Ihre abstrakten, ungegenständlichen und poetischen Bilder stammen aus der Erforschung von Super-8-, 16- und 35-mm-Filmen sowie von Fotografie und Video.

Die daraus resultierende Bildsprache ist stark von verschiedenen Animationstechniken und -stilen beeinflusst.
Madis Filme wurden auf Filmfestivals, in alternativen Räumen und an Orten für zeitgenössische Kunst im In- und Ausland gezeigt, darunter TIFF Wavelengths, das Festival du Cinema Jeune, Paris, Frankreich, Bienal de La Imagen Movimiento, Buenos Aires, Argentinien und das Melbourne Animation Festival, Melbourne, Australien. Ihre Arbeiten wurden mit Unterstützung des Canada Council for the Arts, des Ontario Arts Council, des Toronto Arts Council und des Chalmers Arts Fellowship produziert.

Zu ihren internationalen Residencies gehören das Museum Quartier21, Wien, Österreich, das Klondike Institute of Art and Culture, Yukon, NWT, und das Independent Imaging Retreat, Durham, Ontario.

Madi Piller is a filmmaker, animator, programmer, and independent curator currently

living and working in Toronto, Canada. Her abstract, nonrepresentational and poetic images are drawn from film explorations in Super 8, 16mm and 35mm, as well as photography and video. The resulting imagery is strongly influenced by diverse animation techniques and styles.

Madi’s films have been screened at film festivals, alternative spaces, and contemporary art venues nationally and internationally including TIFF Wavelengths, the Festival du Cinema Jeune, Paris, France, Bienal de La Imagen Movimiento, Buenos Aires, Argentina and the Melbourne Animation Festival, Melbourne, Australia. Her work has been produced with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, the Toronto Arts Council and  Chalmers Arts Fellowship.
